The Scott Richardson Memorial Trust preserves Scott Richardson’s legacy in Southland hospitality by supporting and inspiring future culinary professionals.

Scott, from Māwhera, began as an apprentice at Kings Hotel Greymouth and rose to prominence as one of Aotearoa’s top apprentices. He spent 12 years at the Southern Institute of Technology in Waihōpai, helped build its hospitality program, ran a restaurant, and consulted for the Invercargill Licensing Trust. He later founded the hospitality program at Southland Boys’ High School, mentoring many students who now work in top restaurants. Scott died in 2017 after a sudden battle with leukemia.

The trust’s mission is to educate, encourage, and develop aspiring hospitality professionals, continuing Scott’s focus on travel, experiences, and education.
